Women’s Fund hosts upcoming STEM event

April 23 event to highlight STEM education for women. Keynote speaker is Corinne Warnshuis of national nonprofit Girl Develop It.

The Women’s Fund for San Benito County will host an INSPIRE event on April 23 at San Juan Oaks.

Attendees are expected to hear from keynote speaker, Salinas native and UC Santa Cruz alumna Corinne Warnshuis, executive director of Girl Develop It. Girl Develop It is a national nonprofit that teaches women web and software development. With 50 plus chapters nationally, this organization works to empower women to learn new skills that will improve their careers and confidence.

The April 23 event is also expected to promote STEM education for advancement of women in the career fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, which traditionally have been occupied by men. Gavilan College is also expected to present on their STEM grant and expansion of educational courses offered to local students.

All proceeds help fund grants to local nonprofits serving women and children in San Benito County.

The Women’s Fund for San Benito County is an endowment fund that was created in 2013, as one of several board-advised funds that cover a special interest area. The Women's Fund works to:
