Invitation for Public Comment on East Side Entrance to Pinnacles National Park

Pinnacles National Park is inviting public comment on the National Park Service (NPS) environmental assessment for replacement of the east side entrance station.

According to a press release from the Pinnacles National Park Foundation, under the NPS preferred alternative the entrance station would be relocated approximately 0.43 miles from State Route 25. Another alternative would be relocating the entrance station just south of the campground.

The purpose of the proposal is to improve the visitor entrance experience by constructing a new entrance station and gateway sign, thereby providing a better sense of entry to Pinnacles National Park and reaching more visitors with park information, the press release said. The new entrance station could help reduce visitor congestion upon entering the park and improve opportunities for administrative fee collection operations at the east entrance to the park.

Public comments will be accepted through September 19, 2018. The environmental assessment is available online by visiting the NPS’s Planning Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) system website https://parkplanning.nps.gov/pinn. Comments also may be sent to:
